Circus and carnival posters, 1993, 2008.

The collection, 1993, 2008, and undated, consists mainly of 34 posters and window boards of circuses and carnivals which performed mostly in Michigan, and one in Wisconsin. A circus program, advertisement, and V. 1. No. issue of Wallenda Wire, Spring 1994 are also included. Most of the carnivals are/were Michigan-based. A wide variety of circuses are represented. Please see the inventory for more information. Some duplicates and reproductions are included. While most of the posters are in good condition, some h have holes in them or show signs of acidification or tape abuse. Four of the images are signed by artists, E. Freeland (1) and Ray Dirgo (3). Also included is a window board of a demolition derby. Of special note is a Clyde Beatty-Cole Bros. Combine Circus window board featuring Big Otto the hippopotamus which is signed on the back by all the circus members in various shades of ink.
